Dear DCCA members,

My career as a book store owner, adult literacy teacher, and library activist has always been grounded in the value of reading. Literature is a vast part of our civilization, and reading is an important means of conveying culture. The act of reading also serves as a civilizing influence. It is through reading that we learn empathy.
