DCCA March Membership Meeting

Monday, March 2
7:30 PM
Chastleton Apartments Ballroom
1701 16th Street, N.W

The March membership meeting will feature a presentation by the L'Enfant Trust.

Founded in 1978 for the purpose of preserving and revitalizing Washington’s historic communities, the L’Enfant Trust administers two programs of importance to Washington, according to its web site. Through its Conservation Easement Program, the Trust protects more than 1,130 of the District’s historic structures by protecting against inappropriate demolition, neglect, and inappropriate alterations. The Trusts assists owners with routine maintenance, technical assistance for preservation, and design review for proposed exterior changes.

Through its Historic Properties Redevelopment Program, the Trust uses a revolving fund to save distressed historic properties that would not be profitable for homeowners or for-profit developers to rehabilitate. The Trust acquires property to rehabilitate, puts an easement on it, and sells it. The focus is on neighborhoods where preservation will have an impact on community revitalization.

Speakers from the L’Enfant Trust will discuss recent notable successes of the historic properties redevelopment program in Anacostia as well as other matters. There will be time for questions and answers and informal discussion. We look forward to an interesting and inspiring evening!

Non-members are welcome to attend!

Founded in 1922 in a townhouse at 1767 P Street, to promote and protect the interests of the residents, the Dupont Circle Citizens Association (DCCA) is the premier civic and residential organization in the Dupont Circle area.  DCCA brings neighbors, including residents, businesses and non-profit organizations, together to improve the quality of life in an active and diverse urban neighborhood. It holds membership meetings nine times each year, which are open to the public, organizes the Dupont Circle House Tour, resolves neighborhood issues through its committees, donates to local causes, and incubates innovative projects.
